No matter how well a system is configured, poor data quality, inaccurate conversions, or incomplete validation can create reporting issues, payroll discrepancies, job cost inaccuracies, user frustration, and ultimately a failed implementation.
At ProTek Partners, we help construction companies successfully transition from legacy ERP systems into CMiC through a structured, construction-focused data conversion methodology designed to reduce risk, improve accuracy, and ensure confidence at go-live.

We convert your open and active balances only — trial-balance GL, open AP and AR, active job cost-to-date, employee and payroll YTD, and open commitments. No closed transactional history moves over. This is the lowest-risk, fastest, and cleanest path to go-live. Historical detail remains fully retrievable in your archived legacy system. Best for companies that want a clean, trustworthy foundation for the next decade.
Everything in the balance-forward approach, plus summarized prior-period history — monthly GL summaries, closed-job cost totals, and prior-year figures — so you retain trend and comparative reporting inside CMiC without migrating every transaction. A practical middle ground for in-system reporting continuity.
Balance-forward plus full transactional detail for a defined subset of your data — for example, full cost detail on active multi-year jobs while closed jobs come over as balances, or the current fiscal year in detail with prior years summarized. This delivers targeted depth where it matters and requires more mapping and reconciliation effort.
Complete transactional history across all modules for multiple prior years. This is the most comprehensive — and the most time-intensive, costly, and complex to reconcile. We reserve this for organizations with a specific compliance, audit, or reporting requirement that legacy archive access cannot satisfy.
We evaluate your legacy ERP structure, data quality, historical data requirements, reporting needs, and overall objectives. We then work to determine what data should be converted, archived, or cleaned prior to migration.
Once requirements are defined, we develop detailed mapping documentation for financial, job cost, payroll, and operational data. All mappings are thoroughly validated before any conversion activities begin.
The first conversion pass focuses on validating structure, verifying data mappings, and testing data relationships. The objective is not perfection, but to identify and resolve issues early in the process.
After addressing our findings from Pass 1, we perform a second pass focused on data accuracy, financial reconciliation, user validation, and reporting verification. Client stakeholders play an active role to ensure converted data meets all operational requirements.
Prior to production go-live, we execute a complete end-to-end conversion that simulates the final extraction, transformation, loading, and validation processes. This final rehearsal helps identify any remaining issues and significantly reduces go-live risk.
During go-live, final data is extracted, loaded into production, reconciled, and validated by key stakeholders. Our team supports the entire process to ensure a smooth, controlled transition with minimal disruption to operations.
Under our Shared Accountability Model, ProTek Partners manages data mapping, transformation, loading, and reconciliation, while clients are responsible for business validation, data approval, and process confirmation. This approach creates clear ownership, transparency, and accountability throughout the project.
